A Bit About Me
Shweta’s journey with dance began at birth—quite literally. As part of a traditional ritual, her aunt traced an OM sign on her tongue with honey, a symbolic gesture believed to pass down ancestral traits. Whether fate or passion, dance quickly became the defining force in her life. Trained in Kathak and Bollywood from the age of two, Shweta’s love for movement only deepened over the years.
At 14, she founded her own dance team and expanded her repertoire, dedicating herself to mastering styles such as Bhangra, Raas, and Garba.
Her expertise across multiple South Asian dance forms is rare, setting her apart as a choreographer who seamlessly blends cultural authenticity with modern trends. Every performance she creates is not just choreography—it’s a story, a visual spectacle that captivates and entertains while staying rooted in tradition.
Shweta’s talent has led her to perform with renowned South Asian and Persian artists, including Raghav, Mickey Singh, Mika Singh, DJ Goddess, Sadriddin, and Aria Band. She was also invited to be a traveling choreographer for Sunny Leone’s North American tour but had to turn down the opportunity due to her academic commitments.
Working with Persian artists was a particularly exciting challenge, as it pushed her to adapt to a completely new style—an experience that reinforced her ability to innovate and grow as an artist.
Despite her many achievements, Shweta’s journey has not been without challenges. In a life-altering turn, she was hit by a drunk driver in a motor vehicle accident, forcing her to pause dancing—the very thing that made her feel most like herself. The physical and emotional toll was immense; healing wasn’t just about recovery but about finding the strength to regain what had been momentarily lost. After two years of dedicated physical and emotional therapy, Shweta fought her way back, proving that her passion for dance was stronger than any setback.
Now, as she continues to choreograph and mentor dancers, her focus remains on pushing artistic boundaries. She strives to create performances that are visually striking, emotionally powerful, and culturally rich. Whether she’s performing, teaching, or mentoring the next generation, Shweta’s mission is clear: to entertain, inspire, and elevate South Asian dance in ways that leave a lasting impact.

I started dancing when I was just 2 years old. My passion for dance was almost destined, as I was part of a traditional ceremony right at birth where an OM sign was drawn on my tongue with honey. It symbolizes passing down special traits, and I truly believe that ritual sparked my love for the arts. I trained in Kathak and Bollywood from a very young age, and from there, my love for movement only grew.
My inspiration comes from many places—songs, emotions, even props! I love to create something different and unique, something that feels fresh but still rooted in tradition. I try to stay in tune with modern trends but always with a deep respect for the cultural essence of the dance forms I work with. Every performance is a chance to tell a story, and I aim to capture that through both the choreography and the energy of the performers.
I have extensive training in a variety of South Asian dance forms, including Kathak, Bollywood, Bhangra, Raas, and Garba. It’s rare to be trained in such a vast range of styles, and that’s something I take great pride in. Each style brings its own beauty and depth, and I feel fortunate to be able to blend them into my choreography.
Yes, I’ve had the honor of performing with both South Asian and Persian artists. I’ve danced alongside renowned South Asian stars like Raghav, Mickey Singh, Mika Singh, and DJ Goddess. I was also asked to be a traveling choreographer for Sunny Leone during her North American tour, but unfortunately, I had to turn it down due to my school commitments. Additionally, I performed with Persian artists like Sadriddin and Aria Band, which was a great challenge for me. Their music and style were completely different from what I’m used to, but it pushed me to adapt and grow as a choreographer. It was an achievement I’m incredibly proud of.
One of the most significant obstacles was a car accident I was involved in when I was hit by a drunk driver. It forced me to stop dancing, which was devastating both physically and emotionally. Dance is a huge part of who I am, and not being able to do it felt like I had lost a piece of myself. The recovery process wasn’t just about healing my body—it was about overcoming the emotional toll of seeing my hard work come to a halt. It felt like I was playing catch-up, trying to regain my strength and technique. But after two years, I found the courage to fight for my passion again. I dedicated myself to physical and emotional therapy, and while I’m still recovering, it’s been a journey of resilience and healing.
After two years of struggle, I found the courage and strength to fight for what I love. I dedicated myself to both physical and emotional therapy, and I’m still working on my recovery today. It hasn’t been easy, but it has made me stronger and more focused. I continue to prioritize self-care and healing, and I know it will always be part of my journey. This experience has only deepened my passion for dance and strengthened my resolve to continue creating and performing.
My choreography is a blend of tradition and innovation. I strive to create performances that are visually captivating, while still respecting the cultural roots of each dance form. Whether it's Bollywood, Bhangra, or something more contemporary, I focus on creating pieces that resonate with the audience and bring out the emotions behind the music. I love working with my team to bring fresh ideas to the stage, whether that’s incorporating new props, blending different styles, or experimenting with modern twists.
I believe what sets me apart is my versatility and depth of training in a wide variety of South Asian dance styles. It’s not common to be trained in so many forms, from Kathak and Bollywood to Bhangra and Raas. This diverse background allows me to create more dynamic and intricate choreography. I also place a strong emphasis on creating performances that are both entertaining and culturally authentic. I’m always thinking about how to stay relevant and in tune with modern trends, while still celebrating the traditions that inspire me.
My creative process is very much about feeling. I start by listening to the music repeatedly, allowing it to speak to me. Sometimes, I’ll visualize certain movements or formations based on the emotions or themes within the song. I love to experiment with different styles and ideas, seeing where the music and movement take me. I also believe in collaboration—working with my team to refine and add their unique energy to the choreography. It's a dynamic process that evolves until it feels right.
Staying motivated comes from my deep passion for dance and performance. Every time I create something new or see my dancers bring a piece to life, it reignites my excitement. Inspiration comes from many places, including music, nature, stories, or even other art forms. I also draw inspiration from my team—they are my support system and remind me of the power of collaboration and shared vision.
Dance has taught me many valuable lessons that I apply to every part of my life. It’s given me discipline, resilience, and a deep understanding of the importance of self-expression. I’ve learned to embrace challenges and to be patient with the process. The journey hasn’t always been easy, especially with the obstacles I’ve faced, but it has taught me to keep pushing forward, no matter what. It's also strengthened my belief in the power of community, and the importance of creating art that connects people.
I hope people feel connected to the music and the story we are telling through dance. I want them to leave feeling inspired, uplifted, and moved by the energy and passion we put into our performances. Whether they understand the cultural context or not, I want them to experience the universal power of music and movement. It’s about creating a shared emotional experience, and I always aim for my work to leave a lasting impact.
I’m excited for what’s to come! The journey hasn’t been linear, but I believe that everything I’ve been through has brought me to a place where I can create with even more heart and purpose. My team and I are always looking for new opportunities to perform and share our love of dance with others. I’m also passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of dancers, sharing everything I’ve learned and helping them grow into the artists they’re meant to be.
